It’s not just about the vitamin C in citrus fruit!  Indeed, known as the ‘anti-stress vitamin’, this time of year is a great time to be making sure we get plenty of this important vitamin.

Vitamin C can boost immunity and lower cortisol (a stress inducing hormone) so help to relieve stress.

More importantly, however, citrus fruit contain a pancreatic hormone, CCK (cholecystokinin) which stimulates digestive enzyme production facilitating the digestive process.

Always best eaten before a meal because the CCK also increases the sensation of short-term fullness.
Yes, we use CCK hormones in ED therapy! Obese people have been found to have much lower levels of CCK.

Smelling citrus fruit works too because CCK is released in the brain.
